On the Twelfth Day of Christmas…
On the twelfth Day of Christmas my true love sent to me…Twelve Drummers Drumming!
Pa-rum-pum-pum-pum; sound the drums! Think about all the vibrations that go through the twelve drums when the twelve drummers are hitting the beat. Now this is a cool final gift and, I suspect, difficult to find.
A disorder as rare as the gift of Twelve Drummers Drumming is Vibratory Angioedema. This is a type of “physical” hives induced by, yes, vibration. Riding motorcycles, using jackhammers, or even mowing the grass can induce localized hives (redness, swelling, and itching) within minutes and lasting a few hours. There is a familial form of this disorder that runs in families, a milder “acquired” form and even a very rare “delayed” type that occurs within 1-2 hours of vibration.
So, continue listening to the pa-rum-pum-pum-pum of the drums, and remember to march to the beat of your own drum!
