On the first day of Christmas…
“On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me………..a partridge in a pear tree.”
These are outstanding gifts for people with asthma and allergies because pear and other fruit trees are pollenated by bees (entamophilous) and not wind-pollenated (anemophilous). This means that fruit trees shouldn’t be a problem even for those persons with other tree pollen allergies. The bad news is they are pollenated by bees. Therefore, if you are allergic to bees, stay clear of these trees in the spring when the bees are doing their job. Carry your self-injectable epinephrine. More good news: partridge meat allergy has not been reported, so eat up!
